Journeys of Women Without Custody
From Ambivalence to a Renewed Sense of Self
What People Are Saying About The Book
From Barbara Kurth:
Annette Pagano’s book, Journeys of Women Without Custody, is surprisingly easy to read even though it is her doctoral thesis in which the scientific
method is used.
Discussions of feminist literature aside, I found that the answers given by the women interviewed for her thesis were beautifully candid and excruciatingly familiar to me. No matter what the differences were which led each of these women to become the non-custodial parent, the similarities regarding their struggle for self-esteem, to overcome the stigma of being a mother who lost or relinquished custody of her children, and to be a person who is not only a mother but a whole human being are uniform. This book could bring a great deal of solace to other women without custody. They might be surprised that they are not alone.
